In efforts to recover from the devastation that resulted from the 9-11 attacks on the US mainly in Manhattan where the World Trade Center Buildings stood, the New Yorn and New Jersey Port Authority (which owns the land on which the new Freedom Towers are being built on) have released a statement that Beijing Vantone Real Estates has expressed a nonbinding agreement to lease property on the Freedom Tower which is steadily rising from the ruins of the former WTC.

Port Authority chairman Anthony Coscia said, “China Center’s expression of interest in the Freedom Tower, even before we begin our formal leasing program, strengthens our conviction that the World Trade Center site is a world-class business location. Serious interest from the China Center is a major milestone in our efforts to secure Freedom Tower tenants from around the world.”

This boosts the confidence of developers that the Freedom Towers is to become a viable commercial space for many global businesses that they are seeking tenants for.

Major commercial properties are suffering form an utter lack of clients leaving them to lower rental rates to get people into many vacant properties. Left abandoned or empty for long, they will degrade and need maintenance irregardless of their occupancy so they opt to lower rent and get tenants rather than leave them abandoned for bigger contracts. There are however a few commercial property giants that are going on a shopping spree to expand their collection of properties that they will be selling off for a huge profit when the market bounces back. It will bounce, experts place it by 2012 but who knows? Maybe next time round, people would have learned a lot enough to prevent something like this happening again, ever.

Several commercial properties in the form of malls have collapsed and closed shop, the latest victims of the recession. But they have been getting it hard for some years now and the recession proved to be the last nail hastening their demise. Consumer confidence has gone down a lot in the recent year as people tried to foresee the recession, signs of which emerged last year as the death throes of the financial markets began. The housing market collapsed with the sub-prime lending crisis and the domino effect took over, sending markets crashing one after the other. Not even the charisma and hope for change promised by Mr. Obama worked to stem the collapse and to this day, we are still seeing more of the effects of the unstable financial markets.
